Many invaluable lessons were learned through shop talk at the dinner table or in the car, while tagging along on inspections or trips to town hall, and working in the office. We had purchased and sold two homes while together, but finding the right spot on a lake brought much more complexity into the equation (well and septic regulations; lake rules; homeowners associations; etc). As fate would have it, while renting a lake spot we ended up meeting Jill whose family owned the spot next door. It was kismet, as we not only found a great Realtor, but also made a good friend in the process.The reason it took two years was because we were in no rush and we had VERY particular requirements and must haves. Jill never made us feel like we were dragging our feet or that she was impatient with our being picky. I always do my homework and come to the table fairly well informed, but Jill always brought something extra to the table that we had not known or noticed. As pleasant and easygoing as she is, she has no problem being direct with the other realtor or builder; asking pointed questions.At one point we got involved in new construction which was an unknown process for us. Through months of negotiations Jill was a wealth of information and support. When the deal fell apart due to overpricing, Jill helped provide the data to back up what we suspected. Once we finally found the right spot Jill worked seamlessly with the listing agent to make the purchase go smoothly; the other realtor commented on how good she was.Now that we had found our spot, it was time to list our home. We were hoping to have Jill be the listing agent, but we lived over thirty minutes from her home and were unsure if she would want to. When she said that she would, we were relieved because we knew we were once again in good hands. We got a second estimate from an established local realtor to compare to what price Jill felt we should list at. Their suggested price was significantly less than what Jill’s numbers came in at. She felt that they were under pricing to pad their statistics, which was our sense also. We listed at Jill’s price and at the end of the Open House we had three offers over asking!
