The original Oaklawn was a three acre farm located in Youngsville, North Carolina. Founded in 1978 by my grandparents, William and Leona Perry. Located off Route 1, passed the Red Neck Tavern and next to Flat Rock Church, just outside the Raleigh city limits. There was a small farm house, a barn, pigpens and tobacco barns on the property. After much hard work, to my grandparents, Oaklawn became home. To us grandchildren, it was a magical place, filled with fun, adventure and more love than we knew what to do with. There were pigpens to explore, tobacco barns to play in, bear caves to find and walks to take. There was a big old oak tree with a yellow ribbon tied around it to swing on. There was nothing we loved more than going to get eggs with Grampa, walk the dog, take out the burnables, run up the long driveway to fetch the mail or bake a pie with Gramma. Every day was an adventure and we loved it. And it was gone far too soon….

When I decided to venture out on my own and get my broker license it did not take long for me to decide that somehow, someway, Oaklawn had to be incorporated into the name of my business. Oaklawn Real Estate was born in 2012. A red barn and a little farmhouse for a logo, lots of hard work and love for what I do. I hope somewhere my grandparents are proud…
