Tips on growing your summer vegetable garden
• Tips on growing your summer vegetable garden:

Enjoy a good summer salad with your grilling ?? There is nothing better than picking your own home-grown vegetables for a fresh salad to have with your evening meal !!

Plants: although I have tried seedlings, I prefer purchasing young vegetable flats. So far I have had my best luck with tomatoes [my favorite being the Roma tomato], cucumbers, finger peppers, and zucchini.

Soil, fertilizer and manure:

Note: Last spring I tried something completely different. To help with the weeding and watering I purchased 15 5 gallon buckets from Home Depot and cut the bottoms off each of them. After turning over and grading my garden area I dug holes about 2 feet apart roughly 2/3 the depth of each bucket. I ten filled the buckets with the gardens soil and plated my flats into each bucket.
Tip: Full sun !! You will not want to plant your vegetable garden under a tree or too close to an eastern building. Vegetable gardens enjoy as much sun as they can soak up !!

How to break in and oil your baseball glove

• How to break in and oil your baseball glove:

Have you settled into your new house ? –are you all moved in to your new vacation home ?? Now there is only one thing left to do…. Play some catch !!! [but first, oil that glove !!]

I have found the two best oils to use on my glove were either Lanolin or Mineral oil.
 First, make sure your glove is clean and free of dirt or debris.
 Using a rag or piece of clean cloth, apply you oil to the rag [not directly onto the glove !]
 Slip your glove onto your “glove hand” and use the oiled rag with your “throwing hand”.
 Rub oiled rag deeply around the palm of your glove and half way up each finger, trap, and thumb.
 Use the dry section of the rag to wipe off any excessive oils.
 Place 2-3 baseballs in the pocket/palm of your glove and wrap it closed with the thumb of the glove over the pinky finger.
 Use a large elastic or twine to wrap around the glove and hold it closed.
 Place your glove in a warm place. [in little league I would put my glove under my pillow and sleep on it !]
 After a week or so begin using your glove. Play catch. Lots and lots off catch !!!
 Good Luck and Play Ball !!!
